Booth-Putman House
The story
Behind the sketch.
Built in 1906 by A. M. Booth, this turn-of-the-century cottage combines a Victorian frame with a broad, welcoming bungalow porch. Booth owned one of Huntsville's largest lumberyards, built numerous local houses, and promoted homeownership as a path to thrift, happiness, and good citizenship, a convenient philosophy for a lumberman, but a lasting one. The house later gained a very different claim to fame when it appeared as a location in the 2012 film, "Space Warriors". That makes it a neat bridge between Huntsville's lumber-and-porch era, and its modern identity as a backdrop for stories about space.
